It’s my fault.
I’ve been gone and this Blog became a spam haven.
I’m going to work on fixing this.
First, if you’re a spammer, you’re out.
If you want to post about gaming, you can stay. But no spamming. And I am the final say on whether it is spam or not.
There are also many other things that will get you booted off.
If you think you should not have been booted, Comment here and I will consider your request.
Again, I’m sorry I let this get so bad.
I’m a 20 year old gamer who’s been playing games since the 1950′s. Yes, I said 20 years old. Do you remember what you felt like when you were 20? (Or 2 years ago if you’re younger than 22.) Do you feel much different? Well, I remember and don’t feel much different either. (Oh, the body’s a little heavier and a little slower. I have less hair on my head and more on my back, but other than that, I still feel as young as I did then.) So, yes, I consider myself to be a 20 year old person.
Late in ’79, I attended a comic and fantasy convention. It was my first convention. I discovered the D&D role-playing booth. I listened to them talk about their games for a while and then I walked around to look at some other booths. But I kept coming back to the D&D gaming booth. I was hooked. So I bought the ‘Basic D&D’ box set and the 3 AD&D books, which was the Player’s Handbook, the DM(Dungeon Master) Guide, and Monster Manual.
I was in the military at the time and was shipped to Germany a month+- later. I found and joined my first gaming group within a week of arriving. A month after that, the group’s DM shipped back to the USA. Since I was the only player with all the books, I was elected as the new DM.
I learned a lot during those 2 years. I’m a little bit of a ‘Monty Hall DM’. And I tend to run dynamic games, well actually campaigns. My games evolve around the player characters. In my campaigns, things are happening. Wars, invasions, legends and prophesies, and politics are all taking place in the world around the characters. But the players get to direct their characters where ever they want. I build the actions, scenarios, and the world around them. The campaigns always take 2 years or longer, at 10+ hours every other week, to complete. The player characters go from level 1 to level 15 to 20 or higher during the campaign.
Years later, Gary Gygax came to our local gaming store for a book signing and I got every book I had with his name on it signed by him.
Lately, about the last 10 years or so, I’ve been playing D20 Modern/Future/Apocalypse games, when I can get a group together.
Over the years, I’ve also dabbled in Vampire: The Masquerade, Traveller, Rifts, and several others.
Well, more later.
